~ January 1st to 31st 2009 from dusk till 2:00am ~ Le Temps de La Neige - Cloud Painting #13
A new ambient video installation by dreamSTATE's Scott M2, can be experienced at the
Roadside Attractions gallery - 911 Davenport Road, Toronto.

A vintage television sits on an old wooden table. Rabbit-ear antennae extended,
the signal hopefully enhanced by crumpled foil on the tip of one damaged ear.

The forecast for the future is blue screens and blackness.
Television snow, a constant since childhood,
disappears with analog television sets as technology evolves.
A contemplation of transience and an appreciation of simple beauty,
Cloud Painting #13 pays homage to the time of snow.

July 6th through 15th, 2006 ~ Scott M2 performed dreamSTATE soundscapes to accompany
MOON SEA CROSSING - The Play at The Toronto Fringe Festival. Produced by Fertile Ground Productions,
the play garnered a 5-star review from writer Kellie Maltese in eye weekly magazine:

"This gathering of mythology, music and meta-fiction produces a poetic palimpsest of Irish beliefs
and one immigrant woman's struggle to find a balance among them. In an audience-directed monologue,
"MOON SEA CROSSING" is accentuated by music and lighting that serve to mirror both the
character's emotional and physical battle based on the prejudices that bind her. With language that
flows like the sea that has stolen her away from her homeland, the audience can't help but follow her along."

~March 28th, 2006 - After a successful musical meeting of the minds on February 14th,
dreamSTATE took things farther with poet Lynn Harrigan and guitarist/synthesist Phil Ogison
(aka The Devil In The Design). Opening the set, accompanied by ambience from dreamSTATE and Phil,
Lynn read the latest pieces from her work-in-progress Oblique Poetries,
then dreamSTATE launched into Berlin-inspired Moog sequencing on their new virtual-synth stacks
with soaring guitar work from Phil, bridged by abstract ambient interludes.

In the first set "outside" artist Menno Krant painted directly on 5 CD covers
and on 3 human models while Phil Ogison improvised 5 new musical works.
This is stage one of their "Vessel" series which will culminate
in a gallery showing of 25 paintings and their associated soundart.

Ambient electronic musicians dreamSTATE with Lynn Harrigan - photo by MaurieTodd
dreamSTATE perform at the opening of the Bread & Water multimedia installation in the
Huron Historic Gaol, on August 27th 2004, with poet Lynn Harrigan and cellist Laura Jean McCann
.

~ August 28th to October 24th 2004 - New dreamSTATE ambient soundscapes were featured
at the Bread & Water multimedia installation in the Huron Historic Gaol in Goderich, Ontario.
Based on Moon Sea Crossing, a collection of poems by Lynn Harrigan, this collaborative installation
related the true story of Aina, an Irish woman who immigrated to Canada with her husband
and children in 1846. Aina suffered a breakdown shortly after her arrival in Huron County and was
incarcerated at the Gaol, as there were no mental institutions at that time and place. Poems, music,
paintings and photographs throughout the Gaol explored a variety of themes, including mental illness,
displacement, hunger, grief and Irish folklore.

For this installation, dreamSTATE created seven new soundscapes to support
the emotions of Harrigan's poetry. Installed in various spaces within the Historic Goal,
the soundscapes represented the stages of Aina's journey to Canada, to Stanley Township and
eventually within the Gaol's walls. The music from this installation is now available on the PASSAGE CD.

are planning a special sonic voyage for THE AMBiENT PiNG's final show at club nia / C'est What

~ Sunday July 25th 2004 - beginning at 2:00PM US Eastern Time dreamSTATE will be performing
a multi-hour live concert online via AtmoStreams - hosted by AtmoWorks the online ambient
CD outlet owned by renowned ambient electronic artists Vir Unis and James Johnson. This will be an
excellent opportunity for ambient listeners outside the Toronto area to experience dreamSTATE live.
It will be a late-morning concert on the US and Canadian West Coast and an evening concert
in Europe and Africa. Find the exact time for your city using this handy time converter
then tune in at AtmoWorks by clicking on the speaker icon at the top left.

dreamSTATE has planned a soundscape journey with several stages, beginning with
travels through drifting drones, throbbing pulsations, dark dreams and distant memories.

Next they'll be performing a long set of soundscapes and grooves created entirely from
mutating the amazing samples they had access to from the MusicWorks magazine CD archive for a
live performance at their fundraising event last month. Not only do Scott and Jamie have
clearance from MusicWorks to use these samples again, but during the concert
they will be giving away 3 free subscriptions to the magazine, which includes
a CD of cutting-edge experimental music with each issue!

dreamSTATE will then perform improvisations based on some new music from their next CD release
plus dark drones & rippling sequences to wrap up the 2 hour man/machine portion of their presentation.

Finally, they'll launch their waveforms ambient installation, which has been set up in Sunspot Studio
for this broadcast & will let it weave its infinitely evolving 'scape for the next 15 hours (!)
to create a unique, immersive sound experience for AtmoStream listeners in their personal spaces.

Note - Besides the Between Realities CD (a "live" recording of the waveforms installation),
AtmoWorks carries several compilations featuring dreamSTATE tracks: Ping Ambience 2,
Ambient Landscapes 2, Harmony with Ambience and James Johnson's Linger CD,
which includes Twilight Impressions, a 12 minute co-creation with dreamSTATE
and trumpeter Wally Jericho, recorded live at THE AMBiENT PiNG.

Canadian and international composers, musicians, artists and theorists, and includes a CD of their works.
dreamSTATE have open access to the fantastic archive of sound art from MusicWorks' entire collection
and will be mutating, stretching, twisting and rejuxtaposing it into new soundscapes for this special event.

Come and support this unique and venerable magazine and enjoy live performances by dreamSTATE,
sound collage artists Mannlicher Carcano Ensemble and electroacoustic composer Darren Copeland
plus a new video installation piece by internationally renowned Canadian composer John Oswald
(whose work dreamSTATE will surely plunder for this performance). Complete details about this event here.

Photos and Notes from dreamSTATE performances in 2003:

~ December 16th 2003 - @ THE AMBiENT PiNG - The first set featured dreamSTATE performing
a suite of pieces by Darren Copeland, an electroacoustic composer and sound designer who has
produced work since 1985 for concerts, radio, theatre, dance and site-specific installation.
Darren also attended to the mix and was available for questions after the performance.

In the second set, poet Lynn Harrigan read from Moon Sea Crossing, a work-in-progress
which will culminate next August in a multi-media installation running three months
in the Historic County Gaol in Goderich Ontario incorporating a multi-room sound installation
by dreamSTATE. In the concert, dreamSTATE wove a series of sound environments
to support and expand on the underlying emotions of the poems.

of hardened steel. This combination of sonic forces
ended in many dark sonic territories.
